Jimmy Kimmel has pulled the plug on Monday’s “Jimmy Kimmel Live” broadcast from Brooklyn due to Hurricane Sandy.

As Gossip Cop previously reported, the late night host was set to kick off a highly-anticipated week-long stint from his hometown.

Kimmel initially vowed to proceed with the show despite the looming storm, but ultimately concluded it wouldn’t be feasible — or safe.

He wrote on Twitter midday Monday, “Though it pains us to do it, JKLfrom #Brooklyn tonight is cancelled. I’m disappointed too, but we want you to be safe.”

A show source further tells Gossip Cop that it was “Jimmy’s call” — and not the network’s — to cancel the taping.

Kimmel “didn’t want anyone getting hurt trying to get [to the show],” says our insider.

Adds our source, decisions about tapings for the rest of the week are going to be “day by day.”

Gossip Cop will have updates.
