Arizona is preparing to take a big step forward on this week's Grey's Anatomy.

During Thursday's episode, titled "I Saw Her Standing There," the formerly cheery pediatrics surgeon begins to take control of her life following the plane crash that forced the amputation of her left leg.

Ethan Embry (Empire Records) guest stars as David, who gets off to a rocky start as Arizona's (Jessica Capshaw) prosthetist as they begin the process of getting her back on her feet. While Arizona is still less than pleased to be there, the good-natured doc does have some good news for Arizona: There's no scar tissue and her amputation is healing well.

Meanwhile, Meredith (Ellen Pompeo) realizes that she can't share all the (exciting) details of her surgical exploits with Derek, who is still unable to operate and continues to find his new career teaching less than a suitable replacement.

As for the Chief, BCB Bailey (Chandra Wilson) gives him a hard time for sporting a spiffy tie to the hospital. After Webber (James Pickens Jr.) blows her off, citing that he's just taking pride in his appearance, his true motive is revealed when Jackson's mother, Catherine (Debbie Allen) seems to take a liking to his more-formal attire.
