David Blaine, the famed illusionist and endurance artist, is in the midst of a “shocking” stunt in New York.

All weekend long, the performer is standing on a pillar at Pier 54, surrounded by several Tesla coils zapping a million volts of electricity across his body, essentially making Blaine the center of an artificial lightning storm.
Really.
For the stunt, called “Electrified: One Million Volts Always On,” Blaine is wearing a chainmail suit with a wire helmet to protect him from outright electrocution.
Observers at certain special viewing stations will apparently be able to adjust the flow of electricity with laptops.
He’ll forgo food and sleep for the 72-hour experiment in science and publicity.
