Going into Monday's abbreviated performance episode of Dancing With the Stars, Melissa Rycroft's herniated disc was the biggest issue of the night -- that is until the All-Star announced she was fully capable of performing and Carrie Ann Inaba dramatically fell off of a chair.
The judge channeled the unchecked enthusiasm of last week's guest Paula Abdul in her assessment of Gilles Marini and Peta Murgatroyd, taking a tumble mid-critique. She laughed through the whole thing, and production quickly packaged the clip (with music!) to replay later in the broadcast.

Only four couples performed their routines during the one-hour episode. The rest of them will go during tomorrow's continuation, after tackling a well-received group freestyle. Rycroft and partner Tony Dovolani, Shawn Johnson and Derek Hough, Apolo Anton Ohno and Karina Smirnoff and Sabrina Bryan and Louis van Amstel went into the team dance with a clear advantage. Their song, Carly Rae Jepsen's "Call Me Maybe," is infinitely broader than tomorrow's "Gangnam Style."
So how did the eight tackle the summer anthem of exchanged phone numbers? An ode to high school cheerleaders and jocks, complete with a school room set up, lockers and high scores. Their cumulative 29.5 sets a very high bar for tomorrow.
