CW Orders More Scripts for ‘Beauty and the Beast,’ ‘Emily Owens MD’

Fresh off a full-season order for superhero drama Arrow, The CW is showing its support for the other rookie series on its fall schedule.

The network has ordered three more scripts each for Beauty and the Beast and Emily Owens, M.D., The Hollywood Reporter has learned.

Beauty and the Beast, starring Kristin Kreuk and Jay Ryan, had a solid series debut following a strong The Vampire Diaries lead-in, luring 2.8 million viewers before dropping in week two. Rookie medical drama Emily Owens, which follows Hart of Dixie, averaged 1.7 million viewers in its launch last Tuesday.

The CW touts that both series delivered the network's best performance in their respective time periods in months.

Beauty and the Beast and Emily Owens are the latest freshman fare to receive additional script orders, joining ABC's The Neighbors, Last Resort and 666 Park Avenue.
