“Lonely Parks and Recreation star Amy Poehler has been hitting the sauce following the demise of her nine-year marriage to actor Will Arnett,” reports Star magazine.
The tabloid claims the actress was “even spotted gulping numerous beers at an Emmy party.”
A so-called Star “insider” alleges, “Amy’s putting on a brave face, but seeing her drink so much at the Emmys was disturbing. She tried to be the life of the party, but then the happy face would drop and she’d look so sad. It’s like she’s trying to run away from her feelings.”
The magazine says those close to Poehler “worry that she’s finding solace in the wrong place — like the liquor store.”
“Even to her close friends she pretends like nothing is wrong,” explains the tab’s “insider,” adding, “But everyone would rather see her sad than tumble down the slippery slope of booze.”
Of course, Star tumbled down its own slippery slope long, long ago.
While Poehler’s split from Arnett is undoubtedly upsetting, she has not turned to booze, as the tabloid falsely claims.
She has not been “spotted” drowning her sorrows in alcohol — she’s been taking care of her children and working.
A rep for Poehler tells Gossip Cop the story is “ludicrous.”
