Sam Biddle at Gizmodo has unearthed these vintage logos by designer Alex Leyton (there are more designs on his Behance page).
Not all of these work super well, and I definitely don't want to live in a world where every company is doing some variation of a twee faux-vintage typographical logo (a lot of startups have already tried).

The Lobster font.
Kinda makes you want to try redesigning logos around other fonts, too. A typeface can change a lot.
