LOS ANGELES (TheWrap.com) - Beau Bridges will receive an inaugural lifetime achievement award from Theatre West in Hollywood on Thursday evening.
The 70-year-old movie, television and stage actor will accept the first Betty Garrett Lifetime Achievement Award (named after the late Broadway actress who helped found Theatre West) during the theater company's 50th anniversary gala at the Taglyan Cultural Complex.
Actress Sally Field, his "Norma Rae" co-star, will be on hand to talk about working with Bridges before television producer Norman Lear presents the award.
"In forging our future, we strive to honor our past," Theatre West executive director John Gallogly said in a statement. "It seems especially fitting that we honor Beau Bridges with our inaugural Betty Garrett Lifetime Achievement Award, to be given annually to the artist whose work, both at Theatre West and in the larger world, best exemplifies the talent, generosity of spirit and dedication to craft, family and Theatre West that Betty Garrett epitomized in her life."
For more than 40 years, Bridges has been a member of Theatre West, which opened in 1962 and bills itself as "the oldest continually running theatre company in Los Angeles."
He co-wrote "Acting: The First Six Lessons" for the theater's stage with his actress daughter Emily.
Bridges is the son of the late actor Lloyd Bridges and brother of actor Jeff Bridges.
