You've been eating bugs your whole life and didn't even know it. The FDA allows a certain amount of “defects” in your food because it isn't hazardous to your health.

A lot of the food we eat comes from nature, a place with a lot of creatures and dirt and stuff which can sometimes get into your food. The U.S. Food and Drug administration says it's "economically impractical" to produce food that's free of "non-hazardous, naturally occurring, unavoidable defects" and set up these guidelines for the amount of "defects" that can be in food without it being hazardous to your health.
