Sean Hayes is joining “Smash” for a series of guest appearances.
His stint will reunite him with “Will & Grace” co-star Debra Messing.
On Monday, Hayes tweeted, “I’m very excited to be guest-starring in a multi-episode arc on @NBCSmash this season. Back to Broadway… sort of :) .”
He’ll portray Terrence Falls, a “comedic television and film star who is making his Broadway debut in the musical Liaisons, based on the novel Les Liaisons Dangereuses,” according to an NBC press release, which describes Falls as a “major thorn in the side” of other characters.
Hayes joins Jennifer Hudson as a high-profile addition to the series set backstage on Broadway.
The show, starring Katharine McPhee and Megan Hilty, returns for its second season in January.
