On Monday’s “The Tonight Show,” host Jay Leno began his monologue with jokes about last week’s mass layoffs at the late-night TV institution, poking fun at NBC’s troubles in the process.

As Gossip Cop reported over the weekend, Leno himself took a sizable pay cut to help save as many jobs as possible after the network’s owner, Comcast, terminated between 20 and 25 staffers to reduce costs.
Leno told the audience, “Welcome to ‘The Tonight Show,’ or as Comcast calls us, The Expendables!”
He added, “We’ve consistently been #1 in the ratings, and if you know anything about our network, that kind of thing is frowned upon.”
And the host wasn’t done.
