A quick synopsis

A quick synopsis

For those unfamiliar with the film:

In Red Dawn, a city in Washington state awakens to the surreal sight of foreign paratroopers dropping from the sky – shockingly, the U.S. has been invaded and their hometown is the initial target. Quickly and without warning, the citizens find themselves prisoners and their town under enemy occupation. Determined to fight back, a group of young patriots seek refuge in the surrounding woods, training and reorganizing themselves into a guerilla group of fighters. Taking inspiration from their high school mascot, they call themselves the Wolverines, banding together to protect one another, liberate their town from its captors, and take back their freedom.

When the film originally cast Chris Hemsworth, he was only known for his opening scene in Star Trek. Meanwhile, Josh Hutcherson was barely known outside of a few Disney films. He wasn't cast as Peeta until after filming finished for Red Dawn.

Other cast members include Josh Peck (The Wackness), Adrianne Palicki (Friday Night Lights, G.I. Joe: Retaliation), Isabel Lucas (Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen, The Pacific), Connor Cruise (Tom's son) and Jeffrey Dean Morgan (Watchmen, Grey's Anatomy).

Speaking of Chris...

The actor may look unfamiliar to those who only know him from Thor. The film was shot in 2009 - years before he would get jacked up to play the Avengers superhero. While he has a much slimmer profile, he still is a whole lot of hunk. Even Josh Peck agrees: "He exudes masculinity."

The cast received military training

The cast trained at Michigan Tactical AirSoft Center (MTAC). The MTAC delivers "hard hitting, effective training experiences for Law Enforcement, Military, and Security professionals alike."
