Demi Lovato stopped her performance on Friday in Sacramento, California to remember those who hours before had senselessly been gunned down by James Holmes at a midnight showing of The Dark Knight Rises.

While singing her hit “Skyscraper,” as part of EndFest 2012, Lovato paused and addressed the audience.
“It’s really, really heavy on my heart today. A lot of you guys now what happened in Colorado at midnight last night. I just want to make sure that we can get through this. And my heart goes out to Colorado,” said Lovato.
“This song is for them,” added the singer, dedicating her performance to the victims and their families.
