Dane Cook joked about Colorado shooting tragedy during a standup comedy set on Thursday night.
The comedian was performing at The Laugh Factory in Los Angeles when he began talking about last week’s The Dark Knight Rises massacre that left 12 dead and dozens wounded.

In footage taken from the show, Cook can be heard taking cracks at the quality of the movie before saying, “I know that if none of that had happened, I’m pretty sure that somebody in that theater, about 25 minutes in, realizing it was a piece of crap, probably was like, ‘Ugh, f**king shoot me.’”
The crowd’s reaction to Cook’s joke seems split between gasps, groans and laughter.
Given the horror of the situation in Aurora, Colorado — and how recent the shooting was — Cook’s joke is creating controversy.
