Lady Gaga is facing a $10 million lawsuit over a toy deal that allegedly went awry.
The pop star is accused of sabotaging her deal with MGA Entertainment, which planned to release a doll based on the singer in time for the holiday shopping season.
In its lawsuit, MGA claims Gaga and her team acted in “bad faith” by intentionally requesting changes be made to the figurine in order to “deliberately delay” its debut so that it would coincide with her 2013 album and perfume release.

Gaga, whose licensing company, Bravado, was given a $1 million advance for the product, allegedly first requested the doll “be more supermodel-like,” and then later asked to have a voice chip inside the toy be removed, says the suit.
The toy-maker also says it was asked in April to postpone the release until Gaga’s next album comes out.
But the singer’s rep is slamming back at MGA’s gripes.
First, Gaga’s spokesperson points out the superstar hasn’t even seen the complaint.
And more importantly, notes the rep, “This is a dispute between Universal Music Group’s merchandising company and MGA. There was no legitimate reason for dragging Lady Gaga into that dispute.”
“Lady Gaga will vigorously defend [against] MGA’s ill-conceived lawsuit and is confident that she will prevail,” adds the spokesperson.
MGA is not only seeking $10 million in damages, but also the court’s permission to release the doll as planned over the holidays.
