Nicole Richie and Joel Madden are having “Drama Down Under,” blares a headline from Star, which claims the “Fashion Star” mentor “rushed” to her husband’s side “after learning of his erratic behavior while judging the Australian version of ‘The Voice.’”

According to a supposed “insider” for the tab, Madden was “making inappropriate comments to performers” on a May 14 show, forcing reps for the singing competition to “deny that he was intoxicated.”

The mag’s alleged source goes on to claim that the Good Charlotte rocker was “waving his hands around and looking wild-eyed,” adding, “The network claimed he was just nervous, but this is a rock star who’s used to playing in front of thousands of fans.”

Star says Richie is now “working hard to keep her mate in line” by scheduling family outings during his downtime from “The Voice.”

Another so-called source observes, “Joel swings between acting like a single man and partying without Nicole to wanting her beside him all the time. It’s like she has three kids.”

Uh-huh…

Of course, this isn’t the first time the tabloid has tried to create drama in Richie and Madden’s marriage.

Last year, Star wrongly reported that Richie was refusing to let Madden join Australia’s “The Voice,” and that the couple was living apart.

And Madden previously slammed a tabloid report that the show was causing problems for him and Richie, telling Gossip Cop at the time, “My wife and my children are the most important thing in the world to me… I care way more about [them] than I do about any job I could ever do.”

In any case, a Richie confidante tells Gossip Cop the latest spin on the rumor is “hysterical” and ”so not true.”
