Writer wannabe Hannah doesn't have much luck in love.
In a sneak peek from the new HBO comedy Girls (created by and starring Lena Dunham), the NYC twentysomething reunites with an old flame over drinks. What might be a second chance at love is quickly shot down when Elijah (Andrew Rannells) informs her that he's gay.
"Does this mean that the whole time we were together, you were. . .?" Hannah asks.

Elijah responds: "You're asking, Did I always want to have sex with men? Yes. Are you asking, Did I think about it when we were together? Yes."
When Hannah asks how he was able to have sex with her, he explains: "Well, there's a handsomeness to you. . . alright, maybe that wasn't the right [word]."

Though somewhat insulted, Hannah tells Elijah she's "very, very happy" for him. "But I do wish that maybe you could have figured this out a little bit sooner. Like maybe when we were at liberal arts college, because there were a lot of gay men there."
Girls -- executive produced by Judd Apatow and starring Dunham, Allison Williams, Zosia Mamet and Jemima Kirke -- premieres April 15 at 10:30 p.m. EST on HBO.
