It seems like certain outlets can’t wait to give every story – however innocuous – some kind of negative spin.
As Gossip Cop reported, Chloe Moretz has been picked to play the title character in the Carrie remake.
But HollywoodLife seized on the casting as an opportunity to create a non-existent professional rivalry, declaring that Moretz “beat out Selena Gomez” for the part.
That’s simply not true.
A rep for Gomez tells Gossip Cop she was “never even up for the role.”
HollywoodLife cares less about accuracy than about stirring the pot, though, which explains why the webloid posts “exclusive details” whether or not they’re based in reality.
Gomez, of course, is currently filming Spring Breakers.
