After live performances from the semi-finalists on Tuesday and Wednesday, “American Idol” has turned its Top 25 into a Top 13.
Twelve contestants were eliminated on Thursday’s episode, based on viewers’ votes and the judges’ wild card picks.

The 10 finalists based on voting include early favorite Phillip Phillips and Jermaine Jones, who had initially been eliminated during Hollywood Week but was given a second chance.
After six “save me” performances, Jennifer Lopez gave her wild card to a tearful Jeremy Rosado, while Steven Tyler‘s went to an also emotional Deandre Brackensick and Randy Jackson picked an enthusiastic Erika Van Pelt.

Among those who didn’t receive enough votes to move on to the next round and weren’t saved by the judges were repeat contestant Baylie Brown and suicide attempt survivor Hallie Day.
There are now 7 males and 6 females remaining in the competition.
Next week, the men will pay tribute to Stevie Wonder while the women will honor the late Whitney Houston.
