In a last-minute reversal, the Academy of Motion Picture Arts & Sciences has invited Sacha Baron Cohen to come to Sunday’s Academy Awards as his character from the upcoming movie The Dictator.
As Gossip Cop previously reported, the Academy had banned Cohen after he promised to walk the red carpet dressed as his alter-ego, Admiral General Aladee.
Calling Cohen’s plan a publicity stunt, a spokesperson for the Academy had deemed it “inappropriate.”

But after General Aladee himself addressed the issue via video on Friday morning, the Academy decided he is welcome after all.
General Aladee released a statement celebrating the reversal, saying, “VICTORY IS OURS!”
“Today the Mighty Nation of Wadiya triumphed over the Zionist snakes of Hollywood. Evil and all those who made Satan their protector were vanquished and driven into the Pacific Sea,” the statement continues.
It concludes, “What I am trying to say here is that the Academy has surrendered and sent over two tickets and a parking pass! TODAY OSCAR, TOMORROW OBAMA!”
Hugo, featuring Cohen, is up for 11 Oscars, including Best Picture.
