Kim Kardashian graces the February cover of Success magazine.
In a piece titled, “How Kim Kardashian Became a Billion Dollar Brand,” the reality star and entrepreneur, whose daily comings and goings fill magazines pages and blog posts, discusses the empire she and her family have created.
Kardashian, who began her career selling clothes and being a personal stylist, says she understands the role she plays for her fans.
“I feel like I’m giving my sisterly advice,” Kardashian tells Success, adding, “I’ll listen to fans’ comments and questions asking what skincare do I use or what fragrance I like, and I feel I’m in a position that I can answer those questions well.”
She also reveals that “every six months my mom and I set goals and visions for what we want to achieve… Then we write a goal that is outlandish and outside what we think is our goal range.”
“We once said ‘Wouldn’t it be a dream to have a fragrance?’ And sure enough, that goal came true. It always happens that way. Maybe not that year, but those goals always come true,” says Kardashian, whose family has several fragrances in the market already.
The family’s empire now includes Dash stores, Kardashian Kollection handbags, Kadashian Khaos eye makeup, Kardashian Kolors nail polish, the PerfectSkin skincare line, ShoeDazzle.com, and Kim’s Belle Noel jewelry collection.
Kardashian acknowledges to Success, “It might seem like we’re attached to so many products,” but notes, “Actually, we’ve started to pull back a little bit so we can focus more on larger product lines, such as the Sears collection.”
Not every idea pans out or is a smash success.
“People aren’t stupid,” says the “Keeping Up with the Kardashians” star. “You really have to love what you do and you really have to believe in what you’re working for, for everyone else to believe you.”
