Hallie Day brought some refreshing honesty – along with an interesting set of pipes – to her “American Idol” audition.
As seen on Thursday’s episode, the Baltimore native (trying out in Pittsburgh) revealed she hit “rock bottom” several years prior when a suicide attempt landed her in the emergency room.
Now happily married and working as a waitress, Day infused her audition with some of her hard-earned life experience.
Her song of choice? Gloria Gaynor‘s “I Will Survive.”
Though the judges seemed mixed at first and asked Day to sing a second time, they ultimately unanimously decided to send her to Hollywood.
Asked Randy Jackson, “You know what’s wrong with this girl, Steven?”
“Absolutely nothing,” Tyler replied.
